Konec roku 2021 s knihovnou Darwiniany

Letošní rok přinesl do knihovny Darwiniany hned několik nových titulů a vydatnou porci odborné literatury od RNDr. Adamce. Při jejich představení si dovolím i lehké shrnutí uplynulého roku.

Letošní rok přinesl do knihovny Darwiniany několik nových titulů, zejména na konci roku, po vyhodnocení hospodaření spolku, jsme si mohli dovolit nakoupit hned několik krásných knih. Nutno podotknout, že by jich bylo ještě více, ale třídílný atlas láčkovek (Nepenthes – The Tropical Pitcher Plants) z nakladatelství Redfern Natural History Productions jsme se pokoušeli objednat již v roce 2020 a i ve chvíli, kdy tento článek píšu, jsou knihy stále v předprodeji („Coming soon“). Kvalitní práce si ovšem žádá svůj čas, a pokud se dočkáme díla srovnatelné kvality, jako byly podobné atlasy rosnatek a tučnic, případně monografie rodu Genlisea, je rozhodně na co se těšit (všechna tři zmíněná díla – tedy atlasy rodů Drosera, Pinguicula i monografii rodu Genlisea v knihovně samozřejmě máme a vřele je doporučuji!).

Jak je zjevné z veřejně dostupné účetní knihy, jsou zdroji našich financí členské příspěvky, vstupné na výstavu a provoz obchodu. Ani jeden zdroj by se neobešel bez rozsáhlé základny členů a sympatizantů, kterým srdečně děkuji za projevenou přízeň a speciálně navíc děkuji dobrovolníkům, pracantům z výstavy, dárcům semínek a gemm do obchodu, děkuji i kolegům, kteří se o organizaci a koordinaci těchto projektů starají, ať už přímo v rámci členství ve správní radě nebo ve spolupráci s ní. Zdroje takto získané následně využíváme při obnově vybavení pro účely výstavy, již tradiční práci na Kosišti (a zde patří další poděkování všem, kteří se tohoto projektu účastní) a samozřejmě pořizování nových knih do naší knihovny, ke které se nyní oklikou vracím.

Již počátkem roku dorazily do knihovny dva tituly, objednané již v roce 2020. Jedná se o knihy z kategorie „pěstitelských kuchařek“. První z nich, s fotkou u titulku tohoto článku se jmenuje The Savage Garden: revised, napsal ji Peter D'Amato a představuje nové aktualizované vydání již dříve vydané knihy (kterou také v knihovně máme…). Mezi anglicky mluvící veřejností je všeobecně velmi dobře hodnoceno. Kniha je poměrně rozsáhlá a na své si přijde i středně zkušený pěstitel. Věnuje se jak všeobecným principům pěstování, tak tipům pro jednotlivé vybrané druhy.

Druhá, Carnivorous Plants: Gardening with Extraordinary Botanicals (autor Nigel Hewitt-Cooper) je poněkud jednodušší a doporučil bych ji spíše začátečníkům. Pro mě byla kniha jistým zklamáním, neboť autor je velmi zkušený pěstitel, masožravým rostlinám se věnuje desítky let a mimo jiné se stará o anglickou „národní sbírku rosnatek“, o své pokročilejší zkušenosti se však se čtenáři příliš nedělí.

Třetí knihu jsem věnoval ze své osobní knihovny. Jedná se o dílo „Choroby a škůdci kaktusů“, vydané samonákladem pana Jiřího Pavlíka. Ten se profesně věnuje (jak sám píše v medailonku v knize) výživě a ochraně rostlin, zároveň je vášnivým kaktusářem, takže svým pěstitelským kolegům pomáhá v boji proti nejrůznějším škůdcům. Ačkoli se jedná o knihu zaměřenou na škůdce kaktusů, napadají stejní škůdci zhusta i masožravky a rady z této knihy tak mohou být užitečné všeobecně. Nemluvě o tom, že mnozí pěstitelé se neomezují jenom na masožravky a kaktusy také dobře znají.

Zajímavou publikací o tučnicích Velkých Antil (The insectivorous genus Pinguicula (Lentibulariaceae) in the Greater Antilles) z pera nedávno zesnulého profesora Caspera jsme chtěli doplnit informace o dosud málo pěstovaných, ale ve sbírkách postupně se více šířících, tučnicích z této oblasti. Namátkou připomenu např. Pinguicula jackii, o které jste si na Trifidu mohli nedávno přečíst hned dva články.

Jelikož stále platí dovětek o tom, že Darwiniana je společnost pěstitelů masožravých rostlin a jiných botanických kuriozit, rozhodli jsme se pořídit i rozsáhlou čtyřdílnou sérii knih o drobných druzích orchidejí: Ron Parson & Mary E. Gerritsen, A Compendium of Miniature Orchid Species. Série se neomezuje na pouhý popis orchidejí, které samy o sobě stojí za to, ale zabývá se i obecnými postupy jejich pěstování, které jsou v mnoha ohledech aplikovatelné i u masožravých rostlin.

Kromě knih poskytuje každý rok RNDr. Lubomír Adamec seznam odborných publikací, které se masožravých rostlin týkají. Seznam má tendenci být každým rokem delší, neboť masožravé rostliny jsou zajímavé nejen pěstitelsky, ale i vědecky. Všechny publikace jsou členům k dispozici v naší knihovně v elektronické podobě, za jejich pravidelné zasílání i za vypracování souborného seznamu patří Lubošovi moje srdečné poděkování!

A závěrem, za kterým následuje už jenom seznam té právě zmíněné odborné literatury, přeji všem, kteří čtou tyto řádky, zelené prsty, krásné rostliny a málo škůdců!
