The non-profit organisation DARWINIANA is the society of carnivorous plant and other botanical curiosities growers. We are open to any person interested in carnivorous plants regardless of age or experience. We also accept members who not only grow carnivorous plants but are engaged in growing other somehow unusual and non-carnivorous species of plants (i.e. succulents, orchids, bromeliads etc.). The Society does not restrain from forming ties or relationships with groups or societies from abroad or people who are interested in membership or contributing to the Society in any way.
The name of DARWINIANA originated in honour of the English naturalist Charles Darwin who was the first of his kind to publish his findings on carnivorous plants in (The Insectivorous Plants) publication. An appendix “…and other botanical curiosities“ includes other unusual plants from all sorts of aspects: e.g. physiologically, morphologically, anatomically, biochemically, ecologically etc.
Darwiniana is managed by an elected board: president, vice president and at least five other members.
The continual effort of the board is to be innovative and improve the communication among all its members.
